  • We remember with appreciation the lifetime of service given by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. While we feel great sadness at this time of mourning our company we will also remember with gratitude, receiving The Queens Award to Industry during her late Majesty’s reign. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family.

  • Our apprentice Diamond Polishers, Danny & George, are progressing in leap and bounds.

Our Master Polisher, Clive, is overseeing their progress but they have proved themselves able by redesigning and repolishing a 1.35ct Old Cut diamond to achieve the far superior 1.07ct modern Cushion.

While it is not always possible or practical to modernise every Old Cut; in this particular case (the diamond is Fancy Yellow) the work has certainly paid off and improved the stone considerably.

Well Done – Danny & George!!

  • CSR reporting 2021

2021 has been a pivotal year for the company’s commitment to CSR. As part of the company’s ongoing mission to support artisanal mining communities, we teamed up with the NGO diamonds for peace to become a “corporate member.” Diamonds for peace work with artisanal diamond miners to provide training sessions on topics ranging from smart mining techniques to basic evaluation of rough diamonds. Through our corporate membership, we were able to deploy our financial resources and expertise in rough diamond manufacturing to support the vital work diamonds for peace are carrying out to promote ethics and fairness in the industry.

We are honoured to have been recognised by The Heritage Crafts Association for having the only training program in the UK for aspiring diamond cutters. This year diamond cutting in the UK will be included for the first time on The HCA Red List of Endangered Crafts. Dear All,

  • January News

Monnickendam Diamonds will be celebrating 130 years of business this year.  Originally based in Amsterdam, the diamond rush in South Africa, brought a boom to Amsterdam as a cutting centre when the Dutch buyers returned with rough stones.

This boom meant that the diamond cutters based in Amsterdam saw their normal wage of £5 to £6 per week rise to £40 to £50.  Our current cutters are very happy that salaries have moved with the times.

We will keep you updated on the 130th Year celebrations in future news.

  • Everyone at Monnickendam Diamonds Ltd would like to send you

    Seasons’ Greetings

    and

wish you good health and happiness

    for

    2020.
